Investing.com -- Saudi Arabian startup airline Riyadh Air signed a deal on Monday to purchase 25 Airbus A350-1000 jets at the Paris Airshow, according to the European planemaker.
The agreement also includes options for an additional 25 aircraft, Airbus said. This announcement came shortly after Saudi leasing company AviLease placed a separate order for Airbus passenger and freighter jets at the same event.
The firm portion of the Riyadh Air deal is estimated to be worth approximately $4.6 billion after typical airline discounts, based on Cirium Ascend estimates.
Various media outlets and industry experts have previously speculated that the airline will choose Boeing (NYSE: BA)’s 777X as its flagship aircraft.
