AMD (AMD) Could Partner with Baidu (BIDU), Others on Sever Development

June 6, 2013 11:44 AM EDT
As mentioned Wednesday, Advanced Micro (NYSE: AMD) is looking at moving beyond Windows-based devices, hoping to tackle Google Laptops and tablets in the near future.

But, there's also another revenue stream that AMD is looking at. Digitimes reported that the company might be looking to partner with such outfits as Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), Tencent, and China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) for ARM-based server products. The company said it expects to see marked growth in the segment during 2014.

No plans for handset chip development are in place as of yet, according to AMD senior vice president and general manager of AMD Global Business Units Lisa Su.

Shares of AMD are down 1.2 percent Thursday.
