Nasdaq Announces End of Month Open Short Interest Positions in Nasdaq Stocks as of Settlement Date July 31, 2023

NEW YORK, Aug. 09, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of July 31, 2023, short interest in 3,275 Nasdaq Global Market^SM securities totaled 10,124,012,140 shares compared with 10,433,832,264 shares in 3,291 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of July 14, 2023. The end of July short interest represent 2.70 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.26 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 1,772 securities on The Nasdaq Capital Market^SM totaled 2,110,598,628 shares at the end of the settlement date of July 31, 2023 compared with 2,110,180,280 shares in 1,777 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.73 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period’s figure was 1.19.

In summary, short interest in all 5,047 Nasdaq^® securities totaled 12,234,610,768 shares at the July 31, 2023 settlement date, compared with 5,068 issues and 12,544,012,544 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 2.46 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 2.52 days for the previous reporting period.
