Fourth Quarter 2013 Earnings Season is Just One Week Away

January 2, 2014 5:13 PM EST
Get ready, the kick-off of fourth quarter earnings season is just one week away - Thursday, January 9.

While now no longer part of the Dow 30, Alcoa (NYSE: AA) still gets the honor of unofficially kicking-off earnings season every quarter.

Alcoa will report results after the bell next Thursday, January 9th, with analysts calling for earnings per share of $0.06 on revenues of $5.43 billion. The company has beat over the past three quarters and shares are up 33% from its third quarter report. Still, fundamentally the company is struggling due to weak aluminium prices. Revenues are expected to be down 8% year-over-year and EPS is seen flat.

Aside from Alcoa, investors will be weighing whether earnings are keeping pace with last year's torrid pace in the stock market - with the S&P 500 up nearly 30%.
