TransUnion (NYSE: TRU) has hired Abhi Dhar as Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Technology Officer, effective today.

Dhar is an accomplished executive with more than 20 years of experience in a wide array of technology roles. His expertise includes product development, digital product management and information security in complex and regulated technology environments. He will be responsible for the strategic direction and performance of TransUnion’s Global Technology organization, reporting to TransUnion President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Peck and serving on TransUnion’s Executive Committee.

“Abhi brings key expertise and a well-rounded technology and business background to TransUnion,” said Peck. “His experience across a range of businesses enables him to be a strong addition to TransUnion’s leadership team, as we continue to execute on our growth strategy and innovate in order to provide the solutions that consumers and our customers need.”

“I’m excited to join TransUnion’s innovative and fast-moving environment,” said Dhar. “TransUnion has an excellent team in place, and the company is poised to continue to help businesses and consumers through the effective use of information solutions. I look forward to supporting this important mission.”

Dhar joins TransUnion from Packyge, Inc., a last-mile delivery startup he co-founded in 2017, focused on enabling last step in-store digital experiences. Prior to Packyge, he held several technology roles at Walgreen Boots Alliance (WBA) from 2009-2017, most recently as Senior Vice President, Group Chief Digital Officer for WBA and Chief Information Officer for Walgreens/Retail Pharmacy USA. Prior to Walgreens, he served as Senior Vice President and CIO at TravelCLICK, Inc.; Vice President, Software CTO for Cendent Corporation/Travelport; Principal Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers; and several engineering roles with AT&T. Dhar holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering at Mysore University in India.

Dhar will replace Mohit Kapoor prior to his planned retirement later in 2019. Kapoor will remain at TransUnion in the interim in a temporary role as Executive Vice President for Global Technology Acceleration while assisting with Dhar’s transition as CITO.

“Mohit’s contributions to TransUnion are numerous and will have an impact for years to come,” said Peck. “His leadership throughout our technology and analytics transformation helped set the company up for an exciting future as we continue to innovate to meet the needs of consumers and our customers.”
