'Faster than Porsche but Safer than Volvo': Tesla (TSLA) Begins Model S Plaid Deliveries, Priced Between $131,100 and $145,600

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) launched its luxury sedan Model S Plaid last night in California and delivered the first 25 units to customers.
Plaid is a high-performance version of normal Model S sedan that accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 2 seconds. The car has all-wheel drive and produces over 1,000 horsepower. The battery put in the car is enough for 390 miles and can hit a top speed of 200 miles per hour.
“Faster than Porsche but safer than Volvo,” CEO Elon Musk said during his presentation after he took the car around the Tesla test track in Fremont.
"It's like, man, this is, just, sustainable energy cars can be the fastest cars, be the safest cars, gonna be the most kick-ass cars in every way."
“We’re in production and gonna deliver the first 25 cars now, and then basically should be at several hundred cars per week soon and a thousand cars per week next quarter,” Musk added.
He also boasted about the engine that powers Model S Plaid. The price for Model S Plaid on Tesla’s website is $131,100. a fully loaded Model S Plaid costs $145,600.
“You can pick this motor up with your hands and it can accelerate a two-ton car to 60 miles an hour in 2 seconds. That kind of power-to-weight is insane,” he said.
