Apple (AAPL): Supply Shortage Could See a New Larger iPad Pro Being Shipped Later and Available in Limited Quantities: Report

April 12, 2021 8:23 AM EDT

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is facing more delays as new reports suggest that the Cupertino tech giant may start shipping the new iPad Pro later and the top-tier device will be available in constrained quantities to begin with, Bloomberg reports.

Overseas suppliers are facing manufacturing hiccups with at least one supplier having to pause production, Bloomberg notes citing sources familiar with the matter.

AAPL still expects to present new MiniLED display technology in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in the second part of this month. The tech titan will present new iPad Pro tablets in two sizes later in April. The larger iPad Pro is likely to be more affected by the supply shortage.

A few days ago, it was reported that a key phase in MacBook production is being hampered by a lack of components. As a result, Apple has been forced to push back some component orders for these two devices from the first half of this year to the second half.

A new iPad Pro lineup will be the first major launch from Apple this year, based on a new display and a much faster processor.

In the previous quarter, Apple generated $8.4 billion in sales from iPad units.
