Customers Honored for Their Use of Innovative Technology to Improve Public Safety

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rave Mobile Safety (Rave), the critical communication and collaboration platform customers count on when it matters most, today announced the recipients of its annual Trailblazer and SmartSave awards programs at its annual Summit. Suffolk County, New York; Cayuga Healthcare; Prince William County, Virginia; and Dubuque County, Iowa, received the 2021 Rave Trailblazer Award. In addition, the Fairbanks, Alaska, Emergency Communications Center; the University of Cincinnati Police Division; and Tangipahoa, Louisiana, 9-1-1 were presented with the 2021 Rave SmartSave Award.

Since 2017, the Rave Trailblazer Award has formally recognized Rave customers who have gone above and beyond to provide a safe community through effective and innovative uses of technology. While all Rave customers dedicate themselves to their critical mission of protecting the populations they serve, these awardees have taken truly unique approaches to engage their communities and establish collaborative partnerships that enhance safety.

Suffolk County was recognized for successfully driving awareness of its use of Rave solutions in the community, which resulted in improved critical communication about vaccine availability and recent severe weather. Cayuga Healthcare was awarded for achievements in leveraging technology for emergency alerts and day-to-day business operations alike. Prince William County was named a Trailblazer in response to its advocacy for Smart911 and use of the technology to achieve compliance with Virginia’s Marcus Alert System, which ensures a health-focused and trauma-informed response to behavioral health emergencies. Dubuque County was recognized for its use of lifesaving technology in both public safety and schools. The county has been at the forefront of enhancing public safety for its community and collaborating with key stakeholders across the local safety ecosystem.

“Our goal, first and foremost, is to provide the best possible public safety and emergency response services to the residents of Prince William County, and mental health awareness is a critical component of that mission,” said Eddie Reyes, Director of Prince William County Public Safety Communications. “Our use of the Rave 911 Suite and Smart911 extends beyond compliance with the Marcus Alert System, giving our 9-1-1 call takers and first responders the tools, data and resources needed to best protect the community, no matter the crisis.”

The SmartSave Award recognizes customers’ efforts to incorporate lifesaving technologies into their 9-1-1 emergency communication operations for their communities, using solutions like the Rave 911 Suite, Rave Panic Button, Rave Alert and Rave Guardian to positively impact emergency calls and response.

The Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center leveraged Rave’s 9-1-1 chat capabilities to communicate with a caller in a remote location with no reception, allowing them to obtain key pieces of information critical to rescue efforts. For Tangipahoa 9-1-1, the chat feature led to the rescue of a woman taken against her will, who could not communicate verbally, but was able to share critical details with dispatchers via text. The University of Cincinnati Police Division responded quickly to a message sent from a student in medical distress via Rave’s personal safety app. Thanks to their use of Rave technology, they were able to locate the student so she could be transported to the hospital and receive the care she needed.

“Keeping our campus community safe is our top priority, and the Bearcat (Rave) Guardian app has provided an additional tool for our students, faculty and staff that allows them to connect instantly with the University of Cincinnati Police Division whenever they need assistance,” said University of Cincinnati Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police, James Whalen. “We are honored to accept this recognition from Rave Mobile Safety.”

“Our customers continue to exemplify the best in public safety and critical communications while also navigating the pandemic and other significant crises this past year,” said Noah Reiter, SVP, Customer Success at Rave. “Everything we do at Rave is fueled by the lifesaving work of our customers, and it is our honor to recognize the important work of this year’s award recipients across the state and local, corporate and education spaces.”
