GILBERT, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- National Academy of Sports Medicine® (NASM®) today announced that Tunde Oyeneyin, a world famous fitness instructor, will provide the keynote address at the seventh annual Optima Conference, which will be held virtually. This award-winning event brings together the leading experts and newest ideas in the world of fitness and wellness. The keynote address will take place at 9:45 a.m. Mountain Standard Time the first day of the conference, Thursday, October 21.

Oyeneyin is a popular instructor on Peloton’s interactive fitness platform, where she regularly leads 20,000 live riders through her motivational online classes. Many of her fans are inspired by Oyeneyin’s own resilience and perseverance. After many years of struggling with her weight and self-confidence, she discovered the transformative power of fitness. Now she is on a mission to motivate more people to find self-love and become the best version of themselves.

“We are thrilled to have Tunde joining us at Optima," said Laurie McCartney, President of Ascend Learning’s Fitness and Wellness brands, including NASM. “Our theme this year is G.R.I.T., which stands for grow, reach, inspire and transform, and Tunde truly embodies that spirit. We are excited to share her amazing story with our community of trainers, instructors and coaches, who will carry her message forward and help more people live healthier and happier lives.”

“As a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, I am so honored to be a part of this wonderful community of fitness and wellness professionals,” said Tunde Oyeneyin. “Each day we set out to inspire, uplift, connect, motivate and create great change. What could be better than that?”

Other featured speakers at this year’s Optima virtual conference include Julius Thomas, a former NFL star who is now pursuing a career in psychology, and Kelly McGonigal PhD, whose TED Talk on “How to Make Stress Your Friend” has garnered more than 20 million views. The three-day conference (October 21-23) will include more than 100 educational sessions, hands-on guided workouts with different modalities for various fitness levels and populations, along with valuable opportunities for the fitness and wellness community to network with thought leaders in a state-of-the-art virtual environment.

In 2020, more than 15,000 fitness professionals attended Optima, and the event won a Gold Stevie Award® for “Best Educational Conference.” With high-profile experts like Tunde Oyeneyin on the roster, this year’s event is expected to attract an even larger audience.

NASM is providing unlimited access to all three days of Optima for free. There is also a paid option for fitness professionals looking to add continuing education units (CEUs) toward their recertification and licenses.
