Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry notes an about face in suppliers feelings toward Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and notes that now everyone wants to supply the company.
Chowdhry notes the supplier activity level at the Fremont Factory is almost 2X more than December 2015.
One veteran TSLA Supplier told the firm the following:
"In mid-90's Chrysler announced a revolutionary car of the time 'Dodge Viper', and at that time, almost every Auto-supplier wanted to be the supplier to Dodge Viper. It was considered to be prestigious for the supplier and gave them the bragging rights
...We are seeing something similar right now with Tesla Model 3"
"In 2009, Tesla was preparing for Model S and suppliers were least interested in Tesla. Elon would personally go and meet the suppliers, and it was difficult for even Elon in 2009 to get to get the meetings with the Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers
... However today...every suppliers wants to get onto the Tesla bandwagon and are more than willing to work with TSLA on their aggressive time schedule and on their stringent specifications"
The analyst notes it is clear Tesla is experiencing dramatic shift vs. 2009.
