Notable Mergers and Acquisitions of the Day 9/12: LEH/BAC, HTRN/ENDO, QSFT

  • According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, Lehman Brothers (NYSE: LEH) is actively shopping itself to potential suitors, including Bank of America (NYSE: BAC).

  • HealthTronics, Inc. (NASDAQ: HTRN) sent a letter to the Endocare, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENDO) Board of Directors to withdraw its proposal to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Endocare's common stock for $2.28 per share.

    In August, Endocare rejected the $2.28 per share offer, saying the offer is "inadequate and not in the best interests of Endocare's stockholders."

  • Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) today announced that it has acquired NetPro Computing, Inc. in a cash transaction valued at approximately $78.7 million.

    The acquisition of NetPro, a leading provider of Microsoft infrastructure optimization solutions, allows Quest to further extend its product portfolio to deliver a comprehensive set of products to manage complex Microsoft infrastructures. The combined product offering is expected to provide robust solutions to better migrate, manage and secure Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and SQL Server environments.
