Discover Financial Services Reports Third Quarter Net Income of $639 Million or $1.56 Per Diluted Share
October 25, 2016 4:17 PM EDTRIVERWOODS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) today reported net income of $639 million or $1.56 per diluted share for the third quarter of 2016, as compared to $612 million or $1.38 per diluted share for the third quarter of 2015. The companys return on equity for the third quarter of 2016 was 23%.
Third Quarter Highlights
Total loans grew $3.5 billion, or 5%, from the prior year to $73.6 billion. Credit card loans grew $2.4 billion, or 4%, to $58.0 billion and Discover card sales volume increased 1% from the prior year.... More
