October 24, 2016 11:28 AM EDTMoody's Investors Service, ("Moody's") has placed the ratings of TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: AMTD) on review for upgrade, including its A3 long-term issuer rating and A3 senior unsecured debt rating.
The rating action follows TD Ameritrade's announcement that it has agreed to acquire Scottrade Financial Services Inc. (NYSE: TWX) announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which AT&T will acquire Time Warner in a stock-and-cash transaction valued at $107.50 per share, confirming rumors earlier in the week. S&P hits two-week high on strong earnings; M&A supports

NEW YORK - (Reuters) - The S&P 500 hit a two-week high on Monday on the back of strong earnings, while a flurry of acquisitions indicated corporate America continues to see untapped value in the market.
Annualized third-quarter earnings from S&P 500 components are expected to have risen 1.1 percent last quarter, following four quarters of contraction, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S data. Of the 120 companies that have reported so far, 78 percent have beaten analyst expectations, above the long-term average of 63.5 percent.

October 24, 2016 6:31 AM EDTTD Ameritrade (NASDAQ: AMTD) reported Q4 EPS of $0.35, $0.03 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.38. Revenue for the quarter came in at $829 million versus the consensus estimate of $838.27 million.

TD Ameritrade faces scrutiny over Scottrade purchase

(Reuters) - TD Ameritrade (NASDAQ: AMTD) has agreed to buy Scottrade for $2.7 billion in a deal that would bring together two of the biggest U.S. discount brokerages, but is expected to face scrutiny from regulators.
It is the latest in a wave of consolidation in an industry which has been grappling with intense competition and weak trading volumes as a result of small investors being drawn towards cheaper investment products that track major indexes.
