CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Northern Trust Corporation today reported third quarter net income per diluted common share of $1.08, compared to $0.96 in the third quarter of 2015 and $1.10^ in the second quarter of 2016. Net income was $257.6 million, compared to $234.6 million in the prior-year quarter and $263.0 million^ in the prior quarter. Return on average common equity was 11.7%.
