General Electric (GE) Names New Company Officers

Ramesh Singaram has been promoted to Vice President, Commercial for GEs Power Services business. Ramesh joined GE in 1994 and has been promoted through a series of sales jobs at GE Power over his 22 years at the company. Ramesh earned a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from University of Teknologi in Malaysia.

GE brings off-the-shelf biotech drug factories to Ireland

LONDON (Reuters) - General Electric (NYSE: GE) is digging deeper into biotechnology with plans to build four prefabricated drug factories in Ireland, bringing to Europe a low-cost manufacturing concept it first pioneered in China.
The U.S. conglomerate, better known for making jet engines and turbines, said on Monday it would invest 150 million euros ($167 mln) in a biopharmaceutical campus in county Cork. The new factories on the site will be owned and run by GE customers.

UPDATE: AHAM August Shipments Down 0.2% - Bloomberg (WHR)

August shipments of major home appliances fell 0.2% year-over-year to 5.66 million units, according to Bloomberg, citing AHAM. Shipments of washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, ranges, and ovens declined 3.5% to 3.6 million units.
Whirlpool (NYSE: WHR) shares ticked lower following the headline.
