Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and thereby merger partner SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY) are under heavy pressure Thursday as traders mull dilution from the year-end cash raise, highlighted yesterday. In addition, Elon Musk-linked SpaceX had a rocket explode today at Cape Canaveral.

TSLA is down 5.3% and SCTY is down 6.4%.

Reports have a SpaceX rocket explosion in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The event happened during a test firing, according to NASA.

The rocket was supposed to carry an Israeli satellite

SpaceX is owned by Tesla CEO and SolarCity chairman Elon Musk.

(Reuters) - Lazard Ltd (NYSE: LAZ), the investment bank that advised SolarCity Corp (NASDAQ: SCTY) on its $2.6 billion sale to Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA), made an error in its analysis that discounted the value of the U.S. solar energy company by $400 million, a regulatory filing by Tesla showed on Wednesday.
