AMC Networks (NASDAQ: AMCX) new series "Turn" is off to a fast start, while the "Mad Men" season seven premiere was lackluster as expected, according to Stifel analyst Benjamin Mogil.

On Turn, Nielsen data showed last night's episode two aired to 1.9 milion viewers, which was down as compared to the season premiere (2.1 million viewers) but more importantly viewers in the key 18-49 demographic increased to 0.8 million from 0.5 million. "We view this ratings update as positive and remain Buy rated," Mogil said.

Meanwhile, "Mad Men" season seven premiere aired to a total of 2.3mn viewers, down from the 3.4mn viewers from the prior season premiere. "This ratings update is in line with our expectations and not surprising given the competition from "Game of Thrones" and the MTV Movie Awards," Mogile said.

In addition to the Buy rating, the firm maintained a price target of $80.
