Most Would Select Apple (AAPL) iPhone Over Samsung's New Galaxy S IV, Poll Shows

March 14, 2013 2:08 PM EDT
The following data is another telling sign for investors interested in smartphone/tablet stock plays.

Samsung is expected to release its Galaxy S IV smartphone Thursday night, with many pictures and tons of information already hitting the tech blogs. On the front page of Yahoo! Finance, the question was posed: "Samsung will unveil its new Galaxy S4 smartphone today, while BlackBerry has received a huge pre-order for its new Z10. If you had to choose today, what would you buy?"

Slightly edging out the second place answer, 11,910 respondents, or 42 percent, said "No Droid for me, I like my iPhone." The iPhone is, of course, Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) singular smartphone offering.

Coming in second place with 11,356 votes, or 39 percent of the total, was the Samsung Galaxy S IV.

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) amassed 3,586 votes, or 12 percent of the total, for its Z10 smartphone. That's actually a pretty good result given that most Americans (and were assuming Americans voted in this poll, though results may have come from all over) are working with either Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android OS or Apple's iOS. Maybe there's more interest in BlackBerry than previously thought?

The rest selected "A different Droid."

So, clearly Apple is the winner in this case, even with a formidable rival like the next Galaxy smartphone coming to market. With its focus on user experience and a solid ecosystem, Apple investors should really have little to worry about for the U.S. market.

Per usual, data from the poll isn't scientific, though it does try to limit you to one vote.

While Google and BlackBerry are lower, Apple is in positive territory Thursday.
