Here are Some Key Points to Watch for During RIM's (RIMM) BB10 Event

January 30, 2013 9:34 AM EST
Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) is planning a BlackBerry 10 event at 10am EST today, with the presentation being held in New York. For the webcast, click here.

What are some key points investors (and potential buyers) should be looking for during the event? Here's a few (courtesy of the WSJ):
  • Tech specs on the two BB10 devices and how they measure up to something like the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S III, or, heck, even the Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Nexus 4;

  • What will carriers be charging for contracts;

  • Any details on any news services-fee terms with carriers;

  • Which carriers will be available at launch;

  • Will RIM be tapping into key markets at launch.

To be sure, there will be plenty more questions. As far as anyone knows, at least two of the the big three -- Verizon (NYSE: VZ), Sprint (NYSE: S), and AT&T (NYSE: T) -- will be there at launch. Given that RIM also plans the BB10 webcast to happen simultaneously in New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Dubai, Johannesburg, Jakarta and Delhi, a quick global launch might be assumed as well.

Now, if RIM can just convert all those pesky iOS and Android users over! Shares are up early Wednesday.
