November 29, 2012 1:20 PM EST
Gainers:

Market Vectors Oil Services ETF (NYSE: OIH) gained 1 percent to 38.50. Oil services companies rose as the price of WTI closed in on $88 per barrel on Thursday, recouping losses from early in the week. This lifted stocks in the sector, including shares of Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG), which moved higher by 2 percent.

Materials Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLB) gained 0.7 percent to 36.6. Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE: FCX) gained 1.5 percent, extending gains made on Wednesday. The move is tied to hopes of increases copper demand from China.

Decliners:

SPDR S&P Retail (NYSE: XRT) declined 0.75 percent to 63.3. Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) declined 9 percent after missing Q2 EPS estimates. While digital revenues soared, BKS faces increased competition in the tablet space and is pricing its important Nook tablet at rock bottom prices, which is cutting into earnings. Barns & Noble is the top holding in XRT.
