Microsoft (MSFT) Could Bring Office App to iOS, Android by Early FY13

November 7, 2012 12:23 PM EST
Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), like any good software company, doesn't really care where its offerings appear, as long as they are being used by the masses. With Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) each having a ton of devices (literally) running their respective operating systems, it may come as no surprise that Microsoft wants a piece of the action.

TheVerge is reporting today the a final version of Microsoft Office mobile might be making it's way onto iOS and Android in early 2013. The best part is that Microsoft will make the apps free, meaning users won't have a reason not to download them.

A spokesperson for Microsoft said that Office will be available across Windows Phone, iOS, and Android, but didn't give a specific time frame. TheVerge mulls iOS getting the app in February or March, with Android not far behind.

Shares of Microsoft are ticking higher after hitting $29.05 on Wednesday's session.
