Drawing a line in the sand, Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) is said to be telling local stores to pull content from major rival off its shelves.
PaidContent today said Barnes & Noble will be riding itself of titles from Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) Publishing, which are titles published and distributed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt under an imprint called New Harvest.
Barnes & Noble said its policy hasn't changed about carrying the Amazon books, but given the leeway that local stores have in selecting what goes on shelves, it may not be too much of a surprise that some rival content made it there.
Shares of Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com are both lower Tuesday.
