Barclays on Health Care Facilities: Feinstein's Weekly Insights & Observations
Barclays analyst, Adam Feinstein, said, "Barclays Capital Health Care Facilities Review of Supply Cost Initiatives with Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC): Last week, we hosted a conference call with THC to discuss the company supply-cost initiatives. Tenet has had a lot of success reducing its supply costs in recent years and this has been a key area of margin expansion. We believe Tenet continues to have additional opportunities to lower its supply costs in the years ahead and the company is expecting around half of the savings from its Medicare Performance Initiative (MPI) to come from lower supply costs."
"Barclays Capital Health Care Facilities Review of Lunch with Community Health Systems (NYSE: CYH): Last week, we hosted a lunch for CYH in New York. In a nutshell, the biggest takeaway was that the company continues to execute on its strategy, despite some of the "noise" created by the macro environment and the "observation" status overhang. CYH feels very confident about acquisitions (with an announcement yesterday), reducing operating costs (supplies and payroll) and managed care pricing trends. At the same time, the company is comfortable with its leverage and maturity schedule, following its bond deal this week."
"Barclays Capital Health Care Facilities Review of Brookdale Senior Living's (NYSE: BKD) Analyst Day: Last week, BKD hosted an Investor Day in New York. The message in a nutshell, the company continues to focus on positioning itself for growth despite the pressure that the current economic environment may be having on near term results."
