Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) quest to take tablet market share from Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) might have just gotten a little boost.
According to presentations from Computex 2014, a company named Emdoor is coming out with a low-cast Windows tablet. The device, named EM-i8080, will run $100 and run Windows 8.1 with Bing. It will be one of several lower-priced, Windows-equipped offerings from the company this year.
The EM-i8080 will have an 8-inch display with 1280 x 800 IPS screen. There will be about 1-GB of RAM and 16-GB SSD. It will be powered by Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) 1.33GHz - 1.8GHZ Bay Trail SoC. The device will also have a 18.5-Wh batter and weigh in at about 355 grams.
This all comes as Microsoft has made Windows free for devices with 9-inch displays and smaller, a key growth segment in the tablet market.
