IPC The Hospitalist Company Acquires New York Practice

Expands Psychological Services in Post-acute Care

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM), a leading national hospitalist physician group practice company, announced today that it has acquired RG Psychological Services, P.C. Headquartered in Lynbrook, New York, RG's practice covers more than 80 post-acute care facilities in the greater New York metropolitan area as well as the Albany market.

Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC, commented, "As IPC continues its expansion in post-acute facility-based care we see an opportunity to create a closer coordination of internal medicine and behavioral health services in order to improve both quality and outcomes. The acquisition of RG gives us the opportunity to continue to work on this type of coordination in New York, where we already have a presence and provide internal medicine, psychiatry and psychology services." 

Richard Juman, Psy.D., owner of RG, will join IPC in a leadership capacity for the region. Dr. Juman said, "RG has a 20-year track record providing psychological services to skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers. We already work with many of IPC's physicians and nurse practitioners in the area. RG's psychologists are excited about coordinating care more closely with IPC's clinicians to further improve the quality of care in the facilities we serve." 

The RG transaction represents approximately 55,000 patient encounters on an annualized basis.
