Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is gearing up even more for the launch of its next-generation iPhone.
Digitimes reported that Apple has placed battery orders with Taiwan-based Simplo Technology and China-based Shenzhen Desay Battery Technology. Supplier for the iPhone 5 and 5c, Dynapack, currently has no orders on the books, according to sources.
While Desay is said to have received a majority of the orders, Dynapack is still working to win orders from Apple given that the iPhone 6 hasn't yet entered mass production.
No word on when mass production of the iPhone 6 will start though, given expectations for a Q314 launch, a general guess is for production to ramp in May and June.
Shares of Apple are positive in early trading.
