Production of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 6 will begin sometime during Q214.
Taiwan's Commercial Times reported on the news, saying manufacturer Pegatron is opening up new factory space in anticipation of the production ramp.
Items missing from the report, as translated by Reuters include: sources, number of workers being called in, the number of units expected to be manufactured, and when the deice might arrive in stores. Generally, analysts have been pointing to a Q3 launch of the device, which makes sense: Apple has release every other iPhone during September-October. The iPhone 5c/5s were notable in that those devices launched in the U.S. and China at the same time, a great step up from prior models, which saw a multi-month delay with earlier models.
Shares of Apple are up 0.4 percent.
