Amid Controversy, A&E Plans 'Duck Dynasty' Marathon for Christmas Day

December 24, 2013 11:33 AM EST
While Disney's (NYSE: DIS) A&E might have taken an immediate good-guy stance against Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson following anti-gay remarks and subsequent statement, don't think the station isn't going to continue cashing in on its most-popular show.

According to reports out Tuesday, A&E is planning a 25 episode marathon of Duck Dynasty on December 25th, starting at 3:30pm and running until 4am on December 26th.

Duck Dynasty's impact on A&E can't be understated; the show has drawn in 14 million viewers at its peak, which means big advertising bucks for the network. People are more likely than ever to tune in, too, as many will be looking for something different following the onslaught of holiday movies that run all day on Christmas.

Season 5 of Duck Dynasty is slated to begin on January 15, 2014. Robertson will appear in several episodes that have already been filmed, amid his recent suspension from the show.
