Think Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) style has fallen flat lately? So does the company.
That's why Apple has hired Paul Deneve, also known as the former CEO at fashion house Yves St. Laurent. Deneve was also CEO at names like Nina Ricci and Lanvin and worked for Apple for part of the 1990s.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Apple said, "We're thrilled to welcome Paul Deneve to Apple. He'll be working on special projects as a vice president reporting directly to Tim Cook."
Deneve won't be running Apple's retail operations, which is still open following the departure of John Browett last year, who took over for retail wunderkind Ron Johnson. Johnson was most recently CEO at JCPenney (NYSE: JCP).
Deneve has experience in the high-end retail industry, which may be able to help Apple sell more products at a premium price.
Shares of Apple are lower in early trading.
