Verizon (NYSE: VZ) made a $700 million offer for Canada's Wind Mobile, according to reports in Globe & Mail, citing sources. Verizon also held talks with Mobilecity stakeholders in recent days.

The news sent shares of a number of Canada telecom stocks lower, including Telus (NYSE: TU) and Rogers Communications (NYSE: RCI) . Verizon's entry into Canada is view by many, including analysts at RBC, as a "game changer."
