Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) just can't catch a break lately.
After it was reported earlier that Surface sales are lagging views, one exec at Samsung all but confirmed expectations.
Speaking with the WSJ in an interview following Samsung's debut of its Galaxy S IV smartphone on Thursday, mobile chief J.K. Shin was asked whether or not the company's relationship with Microsoft changed after the company and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) began working more closely in mobile. Shin responded: Smartphones and tablets based on Microsoft's Windows operating system aren't selling very well. There is a preference in the market for Android. In Europe, we're also seeing lackluster demand for Windows-based products.
As far as we know, that is a verbatim quote.
When the mobile executive of one of the world's largest consumer electronics makers says a product is, well, doomed, what should investors be thinking?
Shares of Microsoft are down 0.3 percent while Nokia stock is surprisingly positive on the session.
