J.C. Penney (JCP) CEO Calls on Former Abercrombie Exec To Bring Sexy Back

December 19, 2012 12:16 PM EST
J. C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) CEO Ron Johnson is counting on help former Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE: ANF) executive Brandon Tonniges as he attempts to remake the retailer's image.

Tonniges, called the creative force behind the Abercrombie & Fitch Co experience, was hired as JCP's new director of visual merchandising. Tonniges previously worked as vice president of Abercrombie’s brand senses division.

Since taking the reins at JCP, CEO Johnson has faced challenges in his attempts to remake the brand, though his failings in this area are probably not for lack of trying. With Tonniges on board, JCP watchers are raising a curious eyebrow as they look forward to seeing a hipper, and some say, sexier JCP.
