Notable ETF Movers of the Day 12/11: (FAA) (SMH) Higher; (XHB) Lower

December 11, 2012 3:50 PM EST
Gianers:

Guggenheim Airline (NYSE: FAA) gained 2 percent to 33. Airlines were higher across the board on Tuesday, with Delta (NYSE: DAL) seeing gains of upwards of 5 percent after announcing a 49 percent stake in Virgin Atlantic. The deal is seen creating a strong trans-Atlantic network. Sir Richard Branson will retain his 51 percent stake in the Virgin.

Market Vectors Semiconductor ETF (NYSE: SMH) gained 1.6 percent to 33. Texas Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: TXN) was today's top mover, gaining 3.7 percent after reporting guidance yesterday. While some see the guidance as subdued, TXN lifted Q4 midpoint EPS guidance, always a welcome move on Wall Street.

Decliners:

SPDR S&P Homebuilders (NYSE: XHB) declined 0.5 percent to 25.4. The decline appeared to another wave of profit taking in the high flying homebuilder sector. Year to date, XHB is higher by 47 percent, making it among the top performing sectors of the S&P 500.
