Avici Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: AVCI) 58% HIGHER; Strong Q1 results; first quarter revenues rose to $21.4 million from the $10.7 million for the comparable three-month period. Non-GAAP net income and net income per share for the three months ended March 31, 2006 was $2.0 million, or $0.15 per share, compared to a non-GAAP net loss of $5.2 million, or $0.41 per share, in the prior year quarter ended March 31, 2005.

Swift Transportation (Nasdaq: SWFT) 22% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.45, versus estimate of $0.25. Revenues were $763 million vs. $802.48 million consensus.

PortalPlayer Inc. (NASDAQ: PLAY) 44% LOWER; said its that the follow-on to its PP5021 System-on-Chip has not been selected by Apple Computer for use in their mid-range and high-end flash based iPods.

Quest Diagnostics Inc. (NYSE: DGX) 9.6% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.72, 7 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $1.56 billion vs. $1.51 billion consensus. The company raised its expectation for full year earnings per diluted share to between $2.85 and $2.95, from $2.75 to $2.85.

Ultratech Inc. (NASDAQ: UTEK) 9% HIGHER; reported Q1 EPS of $0.06, 7 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $34.94 million vs. $31.33 million consensus.

Alliance Data (NYSE: ADS) 9% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.69, 7 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $477.2 million vs. $423.73 million consensus. Sees Q2 cash EPS of at lease $0.62, versus cons of $0.58.

MedImmune Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDI) 8% LOWER; reports Q1 earnings of $0.23 per share, 4 cents worse than estimates. Revenues came in at $498 million versus the consensus of $540.3 million. Sees FY06 EPS of $0.30-$0.35 versus the consensus of $0.40. Sees FY06 revenues of $1.3 billion versus the consensus of $1.37 billion.

Juniper Networks, Inc (Nasdaq: JNPR) 6.9% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.19, in-line with estimates. Revenues were $566.7 million vs. $571.05 million consensus.

Briggs & Stratton Corp. (NYSE: BGG) 6.4% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $1.16, 11 cents worse than estimates. Revenues were $800.2 million vs. $864.68 million consensus.

Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) 6% HIGHER; raised its revenue and earnings guidance for its third quarter and fiscal year 2006

eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) 5.8% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.24, in-line with estimates. Revenues were $1.39 billion vs. $1.39 billion consensus. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.22-$0.23 versus the consensus of $0.24. Sees Q2 revs of $1.37-$1.42 billion versus the consensus of $1.42 billlion. Sees FY06 revs of $5.7-$5.9 billion versus the consensus of $5.96 billion.

Apple Computer Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) 5.8% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.50, 7 cents better than estimates. Revenues came in at $4.36 billion versus the consensus of $4.52 billion. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.43-$0.47, versus the consensus of $0.47. Sees Q3 revs of $4.2-$4.4 billion versus the consensus of $4.73 billion.

Tyson Foods Inc. (NYSE: TSN) 5.3% LOWER; sees Q2 GAAP net loss of approximately $(0.38), which include an $0.08 per share charge for the recent closing of two Nebraska beef plants and a $0.03 per share charge for the closing of two Iowa ($0.27 loss ex-items, versus cons of $0.11 loss). The company said volatile markets and the continued oversupply of all proteins contributed to the significant deterioration of chicken and beef margins. Also warns for the full year.

American Electric Power Co. Inc. (NYSE: AEP) 3.6% HIGHER; expects first-quarter GAPP EPS of approximately $0.97 per share and first-quarter 2006 ongoing earnings (ex-items) of approximately $0.96 per share, higher than the Wall Street consensus of $0.80.

General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) 3.2% HIGHER; narrows loss

EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC) 3.2% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.16, 2 cents better than estiamtes. Revenues came in at 2.55 billion versus the consensus of $2.58 billlion. Seees Q2 EPS of $0.17, versus the consensus of $0.15. Sees FY06 EPS of $0.70-$0.73 versus the consensus of $0.66. Plans $3 billion buyback.

Citrix Systems (Nasdaq: CTXS) 3.1% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.33, 5 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $260 million vs. $248.22 million consensus. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.32-$0.33 versus the consensus of 40.28. Sees FY06 EPS of $1.33-$1.37 versus the consensus of $1.28.

Steel Dynamics Inc. (Nasdaq: STLD) 3% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $1.52, 19 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $666 million vs. $603.50 million consensus.

Graco (NYSE: GGG) 2% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.51, 5 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $192.2 million vs. $186.88 million consensus.

MDC Holdings Inc. (NYSE: MDC) 2% LOWER; reports Q1 earnings of $2.08 per share, 17 cents worse than estimates. Revenues came in at $1.14 billion versus the consensus of $1.13 billion.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) 1.3% HIGHER; Intel Corp (Nasdaq: INTC) reports Q1 EPS of $0.23, 1 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $8.9 billion vs. $8.91 billion consensus. Sees Q2 revs of $8-$8.6 billion versus the consensus of $8.85B. Bad results and guidance was expected.

Simpletech Inc. (Nasdaq: STEC) INDICATED HIGHER; expects to exceed both its previous revenue and diluted earnings per share guidance for the first quarter of 2006.
