After trading rather sharply lower throughout Wednesday's intraday session (down more than 3 percent at the close), HP (NYSE: HPQ) shares have jumped about 6 percent.

The company's second-quarter figures topped the Street nicely, while the FY12 guidance was raised. News of a massive restructuring effort is likely adding to investor optimism.

The stock last traded at $22.45.
