UBS on U.S. Hardlines Retail: Another Week of Earnings

Analyst, Michael Lasser, expects another volatile week from hardline retail earnings, although, he sees Lowe's (NYSE: LOW) and Williams Sonoma (NYSE: WSM) performing well.

Talking about consumer electronics, Lasser, said, "Several data points suggest that it has been a slow first part of the year for the consumer electronics sector. The Census Data indicates there has only been modestly positive growth in the category over the last few months and that is with the strong trends from Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL). The attention for Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) will be on the priorities of its interim CEO and its incoming chairman. For hhgregg (Nasdaq: HGG), the focus will be on the progress of its 20 – 25 new stores for the upcoming year & its eCommerce growth."

Also of note, Lasser thinks PetSmart (Nasdaq: PETM) should continue its momentum, and report strong sales trends, but thinks AutoZone (NYSE: AZO), has risk of slowing, as the industry sees some slowing.
