Notable ETF Movers of the Day 05/11: (UNG) (SMH) Higher; (XLF) (GLD) Lower
Gainers
- United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) up 0.68 percent to $17.83. Nat gas lower following stronger EIA data Thursday showing a smaller than expected increase in stockpiles. With nat gas near decade-low prices, somewhat of a relief rally might be expected in the sector.
June contracts are flat on the session.
- Market Vectors Semiconductor ETF (NYSE: SMH) up 1.52 percent to $33.37. Techies making some gains following positive comments from Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) CEO Paul Otellini at the Company's analyst day Thursday. Shares of Intel are up 2.4 percent Friday, with NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) is 8 percent better following its first-quarter 2013 results and outlook, adding to sentiment in the sector.
- Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLF) down 0.57 percent to $14.90. The financials are being led lower by JPMorgan Friday following disclosure of a potential $2 billion mark-to-market loss stemming from its CIO synthetic credit portfolio. JPMorgan shares are off 7.4 percent Friday afternoon.
- SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD) down 0.56 percent to $153.91. Gold lower on the stronger U.S. dollar Friday. Overall, despite he dip in PPI, consumer sentiment is higher in May. The University of Michigan Sentiment Index rose to 77.8, from 76.4 in April and expectations of 76.0.
