UBS maintains a 'Buy' on Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC) price target raised from $90 to $91.

Analyst, Elizabeth Mielke, said, "We're encouraged by the solid quarter as the company helped confirm that coal volume weakness could be absorbed by other positive drivers such as pricing and productivity. The company faces difficult coal yield comps in Q2 and Q3 which could limit EPS growth unless mix generates a larger q/q spike in revenue/unit than we anticipate. A solid Q1 report, but not quite as robust as the 9% headline earnings beat may suggest."

"Our 2012 EPS est. moves up from $5.68 to $5.79, and our 2013 EPS estimate is now $6.77 from $6.68, on slightly stronger conviction that the company’s operational improvement will help mitigate coal headwinds."
