Notable Mergers and Acquisitions of the Day 03/29: (ORCL) (MD) (RHHBY)/(ILMN) (PSS)

  • Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire ClearTrial, a leading provider of cloud-based Clinical Trial Operations (CTO) applications that make the planning, sourcing, and tracking of clinical projects and financial performance faster and more accurate.

    Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

  • Mednax (NYSE: MD) announced the acquisition of three practices formerly part of Children’s Specialists Medical Group of Sacramento, Inc. (CSMGS) based in Sacramento, Calif.

    The acquisition of these three subspecialty practices within CSMGS includes neonatology, perinatology and pediatric critical care practices which brings 9 neonatologists, 4 perinatologists and 6 pediatric intensivists, as well as 17 other staff members (associate, clinical and administrative) to MEDNAX’s Pediatrix Medical Group division. All of the acquired practices are affiliated with Sutter Memorial Hospital and Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

  • Roche (OTCBB: RHHBY) has increased its offer price for all outstanding publicly-held shares of Illumina, Inc. (Nasdaq: ILMN) to $51.00 per share in cash.

    All other terms and conditions of the tender offer remain unchanged.

    Severin Schwan, Chief Executive Officer of Roche, said: “Based on our discussions with Illumina shareholders we have seen interest to accelerate the takeover process. As a result, we are increasing our offer price to $51.00 per share. Roche’s preference continues to be a negotiated transaction. We look forward to the possibility of a swift completion that offers immediate value to Illumina’s shareholders.”

  • Rumor mill: South Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper is reporting E-Land Group of South Korea is looking to offer $1.8 billion to purchase Collective Brands (NYSE: PSS).
