March 2, 2012 2:08 PM EST
This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Sara Lee Corp. (NYSE: SLE) high of $21.84. Sara Lee up 7 percent to its new high after it issued an update on the spin-off of its Coffee & Tea business.

  • Rite Aid Corp. (NYSE: RAD) high of $1.69. Rite Aid making a strong move above the 200-day moving average, with an additional move above $1.60. Volume on today's session is about four-times average.

Earlier reports had a vague, unverified rumor that rival Walgreen (NYSE: WAG) might move in for a bid. With Rite Aid's market cap right around $2 billion and Walgreen reaching nearly $30 billion, anything is possible...though not likely in the works.

  • Ascena Retail Group (Nasdaq: ASNA) high of $43.00. Thursday night, Ascena reported second-quarter earnings of 81 cents per share on revenue of $862 million, compared with Street views calling for EPS of 67 cents and revs of $829.9 million.

Looking ahead, Ascena increased its fiscal 2012 EPS from a range of $2.6 to $2.70 to a range of $2.75 to $2.80. The Street was looking for $2.66.

Shares moved 10.4 percent to the new mark Friday.

  • AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) high of $30.98. AT&T is said to be ending its unlimited data plans as Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone gets a stronger foothold on its network and capacity gets squeezed. Following the blocked move by AT&T to acquire T-Mobile in December, the communications giant is refocusing on acquiring more spectrum from other sources.

In addition, AT&T is still trying to build out its 4G network to offer faster download speeds for its customers. Both these initiatives mean, for now, AT&T needs to firm up its broadband policies to avert any further network issues.
52-Week Low:
  • Patriot Coal Corp. (NYSE: PCX) low of $6.86. Despite overall coal demand issues hitting the U.S. as more and more utilities switch to cheaper nat gas fired plants, Patriot is also seeing some Friday downside as Nomura Securities started with a Reduce. • IAMGOLD Corp. (NYSE: IAG) low of $14.64. IAMGOLD moving lower as gold prices shrink on the strengthening dollar Friday. Overall, gold has been hit on the week, dropping 4.5 percent to $1,712 per ounce following commented from Fed Chief Ben Bernanke which led traders to believe that any QE3 -- if it is in the works -- would be delayed for now on recently stronger jobs and economic numbers. IAMGOLD fell 2.5 percent Friday to its new low.

  • Overstock.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: OSTK) low of $5.89. Overstock is feeling a little "understocked" on investors today following its fourth-quarter numbers, as share dropped 14.4 percent the new low. For last quarter, Overstock reported a loss of 15 cents on revs of $314.1 million, missing views calling for earnings of 45 cents and revs of $377.6 million.
