SodaStream (Nasdaq: SODA) shares are looking weak Thursday afternoon, possibly on news which is also hitting shares of Green Mountain (Nasdaq: GMCR).
According to earlier reports, analysts at Detwiler Fenton cited rumors Wal-mart (NYSE: WMT) is planning to launch a new single-serve hot / cold beverage system this Spring.
The unit is called the ESIO Beverage system. Word has it the device makes coffee and also makes cold drinks like teas and juices. The regular system is the size of an office water cooler, according to the company's website, though a photo of a smaller system is also showing up.
No word on whether the device will impart carbonation into drinks, but the prospect of Wal-mart joining the beverage revolution might be tough for some SodaStream investors to swallow.
SodaStream shares are down 4.4 percent on the session.
