Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 12/20: (CVS) (HD) (SBUX) High; (RIMM) (TRGT) Low

December 20, 2011 2:13 PM EST
This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • CVS Caremark Corp. (NYSE: CVS) high of $39.59. CVS is killing it today, up 8.3 percent to the new mark. Earlier in the session, CVS reaffirmed its fiscal 2011 outlook, and issued fiscal 2012 guidance calling for earnings of $3.15 to $3.25 per share, versus $3.21 expected on the Street. Free cash flow will also be $4.3 to $4.6 billion, according to the outlook.

The best part about CVS "killing it" is that it has the tools, medicine, and equipment to "bring it back to life."

  • The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE: HD) high of $41.99. Home Depot moving higher following reports initial construction of homes climbed 9.3 percent to a run-rate of 685,000, better than the 635,000 expected by economists. Shares up 4.5 percent to the new mark.

  • Starbucks Corp. (Nasdaq: SBUX) high of $45.15. Starbucks getting an extra boost as Piper Jaffray raised estimates earlier, while simultaneously lowering expectations for Green Mountain (Nasdaq: GMCR). Click here for more color.

  • American Tower Corp. (NYSE: AMT) high of $59.98. American Tower, along with other cell tower operators, may turn out to be winners in the failed AT&T (NYSE: T)/T-Mobile deal, as both will now look to boost their spectrum presence. For a little more color from Jefferies, click here.
52-Week Low:
  • Research In Motion Limited (Nasdaq: RIMM) low of $12.45. Well, not much to stop the fall of RIM today. Traders are still pricing in catalysts like delayed BB 10, the continuing dual-CEO structure that investors abhor, and what if the public doesn't like BB 10 when it does come out? Shares down 3.4 percent.

  • Targacept, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRGT) low of $5.02. Targacept is 35 percent lower after reporting its RENAISSANCE Phase 3 with AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) didn't meet primary endpoint.
