Barclays on U.S. Media: TV Ratings Rundown: Charlie Who?

Barclays analyst, Anthony J. DiClemente, said, "NFL overrun, Two and a Half Men lead CBS (NYSE: CBS) to an 18-49 victory - CBS finished well ahead of the competition for the week-ended November 27th, securing a 2.9 rating and 9 share - a full point ahead of 2nd place NBC, which posted a 1.9 rating and 5.5 share. With an hour-long NFL overrun on Sunday, CBS got a sizeable one-time ratings boost to augment its robust primetime schedule. Two and a Half Men (5.2 rating/ 13 share) finished the week as the #2 program on TV, as ratings were up an impressive 16% over last year's comparable episode. With the latest season well under way and Men's ratings trending comfortably above last season's, the network's decision to tap Ashton Kutcher as Charlie Sheen's replacement appears to have been a wise one."

"ABC's (NYSE: DIS) Dancing disappoints in finale - The finale of Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night finished with a 4.1 rating and 11 share, down 23% from last year's episode...The network's surprise hit this season, Once Upon a Time, continues to hold its own on Sunday night against tough competition, most recently securing a 3.4 rating and 8 share in 13th place."

"AMC Networks (Nasdaq: AMCX) ratings dip despite strong finish from The Walking Dead - The season finale of The Walking Dead put up a very strong 3.4 rating and 9 share, but was not enough to push AMC ratings into positive territory for the week. Likely due to weakness in other day parts, AMC ratings were actually down 8% Y/Y, a disappointing figure given that The Walking Dead is AMC's highest-rated show."
