An analyst at BMO Capital, Ambrish Srivastav, downgraded Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) to Market Perform Wednesday morning, while at the same time upgrading ARM Holdings (Nasdaq: ARMH) to Outperform.
Srivastav believes ARM will become a major competitor in the server market over the long term. He doesn’t feel Intel estimates are in any danger in the near-term, however.
The BMO analyst believes Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), and Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM) could be signing up for ARM’s latest architecture ARMv8.
Shares of Intel last traded at $23.66, down 1 percent from Tuesday's close; ARM shares are up 1.6 percent to $28.10.
