Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 07/15: (SWN) (RRC) (MAT) High; (GHL) (BAC) (AMR) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Southwestern Energy (NYSE: SWN) high of $47.35. Southwestern Energy is reacting today to BHP Billiton's (NYSE: BHP) proposal to acquire PetroHawk (NYSE: HK). Southwestern shares moved 8.4 percen to the new mark today.

  • Range Resources Corporation (NYSE: RRC) high of $61.89. Range is also reacting to the BHP/PetroHawk news today. Shares up over 12 percent on the session.

  • Mattel Inc. (NYSE: MAT) high of $28.49. Investors liked it, and they're putting a ring on it. Mattel issued a solid second-quarter earnings beat today, with EPS of $0.23 on revs of $1.16 billion. The Street was looking for EPS of $0.16 and revs of $1.11 billion.

  • Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation (NYSE: COG) high of $69.78. Cabot moving about 11.5 percent to the new mark today following the BHP/PetroHawk announcement.
52-Week Low:
  • Greenhill & Co., Inc. (NYSE: GHL) low of $48.16. Greenhill is lower today following reports that management committee member, Tim George, will be leaving the company. George had been at Greenhill about one-year after its founding.

  • Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) low of $9.99. Bank of America just barely got below the $10 price level for the first time in about two-years today. The financial giant is shirk earnings from JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM) and Citi (NYSE: C), both of which issued a second-quarter earnings beat.

  • AMR Corporation (NYSE: AMR) low of $4.90. Though showing some weakness in recent weeks, AMR reports that it's American arm entered into a sale-leaseback arrangement with AerCap (NYSE: AER) to finance up to 35 Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, including 29 firm deliveries, scheduled to be delivered to American. Shares dropped as much as 3.7 percent on the session to the new low today.
