UBS Roxyretail’s Rack Attack: More Aggressive Promotions Ahead of Early Holiday Flows
UBS analyst says, "We think the choppy consumer environment (with consumers buying based on need) and unseasonably warm temperatures are weighing on October sales. We saw a week-over-week increase in promotional levels for 45% of our retailers (ARO, CWTR, JCG, Loft, Banana Republic, and WHBM) and a YOY increase for 70% (Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE: ANF), ARO, Coldwater Creek (Nasdaq: CWTR), Gap, Inc (NYSE: GPS), J. Crew Group (NYSE: JCG), Talbot (NYSE: TLB), and Loft). Separately, we are slightly raising our Chico's (NYSE: CHS) PT to $10 from $9 given recent multiple expansion in the group."
