Warren Buffett Raises Stakes In Two Banks (WFC, USB), and Buys More J&J After Selling Last Qtr

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway released its 13F for the quarter ended 3/31/09. Buffett raised his positions in two of the banks he owns Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) and US Bancorp (NYSE: USB). Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) continues to be his largest position, valued at about $9 billion.

Some notables from the filing include:

  • - Raised stake in Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) by 12.36 million shares to 302,609,212 shares (2nd largest)
  • - Raised stake in Burlington Northern (NYSE: BNI) by 6.7 million shares to 76,777,029 shares
  • - Raised stake in Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) by 3.9 million shares to 32,508,891 shares
  • - Raised stake in US Bancorp (NYSE: USB) by 1.49 million shares to 69,039,426 shares
  • - Raised stake in Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP) by 652,000 shares to 9,558,000 shares
  • - Lowered stake in ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) by 8.67 million shares to 71,228,096 shares
  • - Lowered stake in Constellation Energy Group, Inc. (CEG) by 2.35 million shares to 12,476,154 shares
  • - Lowered stake in Unitedhealth Group, Inc. (NYSE: UNH) by 1.8 million shares to 4,500,000 shares
  • - Lowered stake in CarMax Inc. (NYSE: KMX) by 5.64 million shares to 12,000,000
  • - Maintains Coca-Cola stake (NYSE: KO) at 200 million shares worth $9 billion, his 1st largest holdings
  • - Maintained stake in Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) after selling last quarter
  • - Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) is Buffett's 3rd largest position, but he did not disclose the stake in the 13F because he hold warrants on the 43,478,260 shares. Worth about $6B
