The Dow Gains 101 Points, Nasdaq Adds 22

The Dow gained 100.96 points today to close at 13,463.33, the Nasdaq added 22.11 points to close at 2,575.98 and the S&P 500 gained 6.39 points to close at 1,472. Oil gained $0.33 to close at $78.21 per barrel.

Volume as heavy with 4.35 billion shares trading on the NYSE and 2.55 billion on the Nasdaq. Advancers topped Decliners on the NYSE by a margin of 21:11 and 17:13 on the Nasdaq.

In individual stories, Pharmion Corporation (Nasdaq: PHRM) gained 58.4% after the company reported Vidaza significantly extended overall survival by 74% in Phase 3 trial of Myelodysplastic Syndromes. POZEN Inc. (Nasdaq: POZN) fell 43% after the company and GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) said the FDA has issued a second approvable letter for Trexima

Tomorrow, traders will be looking from earnings from Bronco Drilling Company Inc (Nasdaq: BRNC), Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE: BAM), Hercules Offshore (Nasdaq: HERO), KeySpan (NYSE: KSE), MannKind (Nasdaq: MNKD), MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS), Milacron (NYSE: MZ),TETRA Technologies (NYSE: TTI), TIM HORTONS INC (NYSE: THI) and TOP Tankers Inc. (Nasdaq: TOPT)
