Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iBooks Store and iTunes Moves were said to be shut down in China just six-months after the services launched.
According to the New York Times, Apple initially had a blessing to offer the services, but the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television in China demanded that the services be closed.
One spokesperson with Apple said the company hopes to relaunch the two platforms "as soon as possible."
News comes as Apple begins to continually relay on its services vs. hardware to lure customers back in.
Investors will be looking towards Apple's performance in China when the company reports Q2 results on Tuesday. Shares are indicated lower in early trading.
