AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Speakers from OpenStack users including AT&T, OVH, SAP, Workday and Verizon will share how cloud computing has transformed their businesses at the 13th gathering of the OpenStack® open source cloud community. More than 7,000 participants from 55+ countries are expected to attend the next OpenStack Summit in Austin, April 25-29, 2016, at the Austin Convention Center. Today is the last day to purchase OpenStack Summit tickets at a discounted rate.

Summit content will emphasize the foundational role that OpenStack now plays in enterprise IT strategies and service provider roadmaps, bridging cloud native software development with the optimization of legacy applications. The theme recognizes OpenStack as an integration engine to automate compute, storage and networking for a diverse set of technologies ranging from virtualization and bare metal to container orchestration like Kubernetes and Apache Mesos.

The schedule for the Austin Summit is now online. New OpenStack Academy

A new component at the Austin Summit will be the OpenStack Academy, a dedicated space for learning that will house dozens of hands-on workshops, day-long intensive training sessions and professional certification exams. Growing the cloud computing talent pool is a strategic initiative for the OpenStack Foundation, and the OpenStack Academy will greatly increase the amount of practical, hands-on training available to attendees.

Intensive training courses will be run and offered free of charge to registered participants by sponsors in the OpenStack ecosystem, including Cloud Foundry, Mirantis, Rackspace, Red Hat, Solinea and SUSE. Throughout the week, OpenStack Academy will host dozens of 90-minute, hands-on workshops, more than doubling the number of training sessions typically offered at past Summits.

Also at OpenStack Academy, community members who register in advance for a limited number of seats will be the first to take the Certified OpenStack Administrator exam (first announced in October 2015).

About the OpenStack Summit

Held twice annually, the Summit is a five-day conference. Keynote sessions will take place Monday and Tuesday mornings, and the main conference and expo will run Monday through Thursday. Developer working sessions to determine the roadmap for Newton, the 14th release of OpenStack software (which will be released in October 2016), will take place Tuesday through Friday.

The most recent installment of the twice-annual Summit was held in October 2015 in Tokyo, Japan, and drew more than 5,000 participants. A video recap of the Tokyo summit and session videos and slides demonstrate the depth of user engagement and energy surrounding the community.

Event Resources

Registration is open, with “Full Access” passes available online until April 24.
